Installation of twenty wedding gowns borrowed from women in Guatemala of
different ages and backgrounds, no matter their current marital status
Dimensions variable
This installation was an invitation by the Centro Cultural de España/Guatemala to accompany the traveling exhibition “Suite Sweet Love” by the Spanish collective k.b.zonas.
The wedding gowns were collected through an open call to friends and contacts in Guatemala. Each wedding gown included a label with the initial of the name of the women, the number of years in marriage, and her current status (married, separated, divorced, widow).
This exhibition explores concepts of nostalgia and the passage of time that these dresses represent. Specially to associate these dresses as witnesses of not only the happiness but also the difficulties that are lived in a marriage, the possibility that it may not be “forever”, and the emotional and sentimental burden it may represent.
