Installation of 100 tissue papers, red lipstick and red high-heel shoes

I was part of the Guatemalan representation for the “VII Bienal Internacional
de Pintura de Cuenca” in Ecuador in 2001.
Using the lipstick as a “painting” medium, I made this installation
evoking the red carpet used in religious marriages, representing the
fairy-tale fantasy some Latin women expect to happen when getting married.
While doing these imprints of my lips on each tissue, September 11th occurred.
We were already living in NYC.
