”She moved in 1989 after been away for eight years. The apartment was nice, with new wallpaper that she had chosen herself. Very few people were visiting the apartment during the thirteen years she lived there. It was me, my brother and maybe the janitor of the building. Our mother was the one living behind the closed Venetian blinds.”

For many years I have wanted to photograph her home, but I didn’t really know how to feel it, how to get close to what I wanted to say.

This year 2002 I was living in the States, going home to the up North of Sweden to help her move.

I wanted to make images that had a beauty, a beauty in itself, even though the subject is not. To leave space for the viewer to feel themselves, make they own images of the story about who has lived in these rooms.
